A look at the history behind the team.


Lester Stehn has 27 years in the automotive industry and has spent the majority of it in dyno tuning, specialised diagnostics and LPG tuning.

After many successful years operating his award winning business Lester's Automotive, he sold up and worked on expanding his industry knowledge. During this time he was an instructor for the University of Melbourne and the University of Ballarat.

In his years away from business, he has formed many associations with suppliers of high performance products and services who are leaders in their field.

Lester's philosophy is simple: "Do things once properly and have the knowledge to do so, whether it be for high performance vehicles or your daily driver. Too often I have seen people wasting money on poor products, services and advice."


Wade is form Warracknabeal where he gained his vast knowledge of the automotive industry under the defined tutelage of his father at Vic Ellis Motors. Over more than 10 years there, Wade learned a huge variety of skills, working on all models of vehicles.

Wade is multi-skilled which will be a big benefit to Boss. He has always enjoyed working on modified cars and is an avid turbo charger enthusiast, giving him vast experience with turbo charged cars.

This large city has been prominent as the winner of Australia’s tidiest town (in 2001) and the community pride is evident everywhere.

The city boasts a vibrant shopping precinct with a wide variety to choose from. Its coffee shops and restaurants are fast gaining a reputation for variety and quality.

Horsham is the capital of the region and hosts a range of quality major events from sport to cultural interests. Speaking of sport, the Horsham golf course is known as country Victoria’s best, as awarded from the pro-am circuit.

In normal seasons the region boasts many fine lakes and a Wimmera River system and is extremely popular with fishing, boating, swimming and water enthusiasts.

A brief description on what we're all about.

Boss Muscle Cars has been purpose built to provide first class automotive services to both the average Wimmera motorist and those enthusiasts who want the very best performance and fuel efficiency from their vehicle.

The workshop features open bays and a sound proof booth with the finest in diagnostic tools not previously seen in the Wimmera. These include advanced equipment from Coda such as an exhaust gas analysis system, ignition analysis system, computer scanner, an ultra scanner, an interject fuel system and Mainline dyno to name a few.

With such quality equipment, boss staff can very quickly pinpoint the cause of your vehicle's mechanical problem and explain the treatment and ongoing care required. This will eliminate the costly experience of having the wrong parts replaced.

Boss can also provide high performance tuning which means higher efficiency for your vehicle and therefore improved fuel consumption which has never been more important than right now. High performance and high efficient tuning has been a passion of ours for a long time and we've had some great results.

We are affiliated with VCM Suite HP Tuner Software for Holden Commodore EFI editing and computer reprogramming. We are experienced with MoTeC, Haltech, Wolf, Profire and other market leading EFI systems.

Through our Mainline dyno we can log and program via our direct interface with most factory and aftermarket electronic control units.

We also cater to the older style makes and models from Mini Minors to big block Chev powered vehicles.

Lester has spent the past two years researching the field to address what he believes is a shortfall in the region and he has invested his time and money into the very best computers and diagnostic equipment for Wimmera cars.

He has also put a good team together that includes former Warracknabeal automotive technician Wade Ellis.

Lester said his service was going to be about educating Wimmera motorists on the needs of their vehicles.

"Boss Muscle Cars is not planning to repair everyone’s car," Lester said.

"What we will ensure is that after testing, we can tell you exactly what your car needs to run at 100 percent and in most cases, your regular mechanic will be able to provide those needs," he said.

"But what Boss will do is save everyone’s time and money. Too often I have seen mechanics replace parts on cars because they are just guessing what the problem might be. The customer spends several hundred dollars and still has the same problem. We can perform a complete examination and provide an accurate diagnosis so the repair job is done right the first time. We will also make sure the customer understands the problem so there is no issue with their mechanic."

Lester said he would provide ongoing on and off-site training for his staff because he believed strongly in customer education.

"I don’t just repair their car but explain the situation in layman's terms so they understand what it is they want and what the outcome will be. I want to take what this industry has been doing to another level of professionalism for our customers. We’re into doing things once, properly and then moving on to help someone else achieve their goals."
